Mediation for families in Bristol
Bristol and the West of England – Bath, Weston-super-Mare, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset – are served by the Bristol Civil and Family Justice Centre on Redcliff Street, which expects a MIAM before a children or finance application and has some of the longest family waiting times in the South West. Bristol’s Somali community in Easton, its large creative and self-employed workforce and its very high house prices make for separations where disclosure is hard and the home is everything.
Most people choose an online MIAM because it can be held within days, at a time that suits them, from home. Joint sessions are the same – usually two to four of them, online, with in-person appointments by arrangement. Financial mediation with full disclosure, ending in a Memorandum of Understanding a Bristol solicitor can turn into a consent order, is the most common work we do for couples here.

Which court hears your case depends on where the children live, and the court confirms it when you apply. Before a C100 for children or a Form A for finances it expects a MIAM first, and our certificate is accepted at every family court in England and Wales. If proceedings have already started, mediation can run alongside them.
