Mediation for families in Cambridge
Cambridgeshire family cases are heard at the Cambridge County Court and Family Court on East Road, with Peterborough and Huntingdon hearing locally. The court expects a MIAM first. Cambridge has some of the highest house prices outside London and a workforce – university, biotech, the science parks – on contracts and visas, which means separations where one of you may need to leave the country, or the house cannot be kept on one income.
Most people choose an online MIAM because it can be held within days, at a time that suits them, from home. Joint sessions are the same – usually two to four of them, online, with in-person appointments by arrangement. Many Cambridge couples work London hours; evening and Saturday online sessions are easy to arrange, and both of you can join from wherever you are.

Which court hears your case depends on where the children live, and the court confirms it when you apply. Before a C100 for children or a Form A for finances it expects a MIAM first, and our certificate is accepted at every family court in England and Wales. If proceedings have already started, mediation can run alongside them.

Questions people in Cambridge ask
Where is Cambridge family court?
Cambridge County Court and Family Court, 197 East Road, for Cambridge and much of the county; Peterborough and Huntingdon have their own hearing centres. Our MIAM certificate is accepted at all of them.
One of us is on a visa – does that affect mediation?
It affects what needs to be agreed – where the children will live if one parent has to leave, and how contact will work – but not whether you can mediate. It is exactly the kind of question mediation is for.
Is the Government voucher available?
Yes. Where your case involves arrangements for children, the Family Mediation Voucher gives up to £500 per family towards joint sessions. It is applied to your invoice, so you pay the difference.
