Mediation for families in the North of England
Family mediation does not depend on where the mediator sits. A MIAM certificate signed by an FMC-accredited mediator is accepted at every family court in England and Wales – Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Newcastle and the rest – and most northern couples we work with find an online mediator from London easier to book, and no dearer, than one across town with a six-week wait.
We work with families across Greater Manchester, West and South Yorkshire, Merseyside, Tyneside, Lancashire and further north, including many Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Indian households in Oldham, Bradford, Rochdale and Blackburn who want a mediator able to work in Bengali or Hindi, or with an Urdu or Punjabi interpreter. Most people choose an online MIAM because it can be held within days, at a time that suits them, from home. Joint sessions are the same – usually two to four of them, online, with in-person appointments by arrangement.

Family applications from the North of England go to the family court nearest to you – Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield or Newcastle. Before a C100 for children or a Form A for finances it expects a MIAM first, and our certificate is accepted at every family court in England and Wales.

Questions people in the North of England ask
Is a MIAM from a London mediator valid at a court in the North?
Yes. The certificate is issued by an FMC-accredited mediator and is valid for four months at any family court in England and Wales, including Manchester Civil Justice Centre, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield and Newcastle.
Can we meet in person in the North of England?
By arrangement, yes, in a private, neutral room, though for most northern couples the honest answer is that online is quicker and cheaper and works just as well. Say what you would prefer when you book.
Is the Government voucher available?
Yes. Where your case involves arrangements for children, the Family Mediation Voucher gives up to £500 per family towards joint sessions. It is applied to your invoice, so you pay the difference.
