Mediation for families in Redbridge
Redbridge runs from the Victorian streets of Wanstead and Woodford to the estates of Hainault and Chadwell Heath, and its families are as varied as its housing. Many of the couples we see here have been together a long time, own their home, and have children at Redbridge’s well-known schools – so the questions are about the house, the school run and what happens in the holidays.
Redbridge Council does not run a family mediation service of its own; you choose an accredited mediator directly. We hold MIAMs online within days and see couples in person in Redbridge by appointment, in a private, neutral room. Where a case involves children, the Government voucher pays up to £500 towards the joint sessions.

Which court hears your case depends on where the children live, and the court confirms it when you apply. Before a C100 for children or a Form A for finances it expects a MIAM first, and our certificate is accepted at every family court in England and Wales. If proceedings have already started, mediation can run alongside them.

Questions people in Redbridge ask
Where do Redbridge family cases go?
To the East London Family Court at Westferry Circus, Canary Wharf. The court expects a MIAM before a C100 or Form A application, and our certificate is accepted there.
Can grandparents take part in mediation?
Yes, where both parents agree it would help. In many Redbridge families grandparents do a large share of the childcare, and an arrangement that ignores them tends not to last. They can join a session or be consulted between sessions.
Is the Government voucher available?
Yes. Where your case involves arrangements for children, the Family Mediation Voucher gives up to £500 per family towards joint sessions. It is applied to your invoice, so you pay the difference.
