Questions about online MIAMs
Is an online MIAM valid for court?
Yes. A MIAM held by video call is a MIAM, and where a court form needs the mediator's signature it is completed in the same way as after an in-person meeting.
What do I need for an online MIAM?
A phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone, a reasonable internet connection, and somewhere private where you can speak freely for up to an hour.
Can I do it from abroad?
Often yes. If you have a link to England or Wales and need a MIAM for a court application here, a video call can work from another country. Tell us where you are when you book.
Can I have someone with me?
You can discuss this when you book. A MIAM is a private meeting with the mediator, so anyone joining needs to be agreed in advance.
What if my connection drops?
The mediator can reconnect by phone or rearrange the rest of the appointment, so you do not lose the meeting.
