If a court application or hearing date is close, the important thing is to find the earliest genuine appointment, not to rely on a promise that may not match the diary.
We offer online MIAMs across England and Wales. Send us a message using the form below, choose Urgent call back, and tell us the date of your hearing or filing deadline.
What an urgent appointment costs
An urgent MIAM is £160 per person, against £125 for an ordinary one. If you also need the signed certificate for a court application the same day or within 48 hours, that is £50 rather than £35.
The difference is the notice, not the meeting. An urgent appointment is still a full MIAM, and it displaces whatever was already in the diary – which is what you are paying for. All our fees are here.
Tell us the date that matters
When booking, include the court or application deadline if you have one. This helps the urgency of the case to be understood from the start.
An urgent appointment is still a full MIAM. The professional assessment is not shortened simply because the deadline is close.
What an urgent MIAM can and cannot do
An urgent MIAM can give you an earlier private meeting with an authorised mediator, subject to actual availability.
It cannot:
- guarantee that joint mediation will be suitable;
- guarantee that the other person will agree to mediate;
- decide that a court exemption applies to you;
- give individual legal advice about the merits of your court application.
Court urgency and MIAM exemptions are separate questions
The Family Procedure Rules contain MIAM exemptions, including certain urgent situations. An applicant who relies on an exemption makes that claim on the court form and may need evidence. The court can examine the claim.
If you are unsure whether an urgent court exemption applies, obtain legal advice or use the official court guidance. Do not book a MIAM solely because a website has told you that no exemption can apply.
